Oriental Souk

A commanding large-scale work by the celebrated Lebanese artist H. Hamaoui (1937–2013) — Oriental Souk immerses the viewer in the vibrant energy and colour of a bustling Middle Eastern market. Painted circa 1990s using Hamaoui's iconic technique of applying oil with a thin piece of plastic rather than a brush, the result is a texture and vitality that is entirely his own.

Hamaoui founded his own art school in 1960 and became one of Lebanon's most distinctive and celebrated voices in art. This large-format piece is a rare opportunity to acquire a significant work from his legacy.
